As part of our latest cohort of PET Heroes 2024, Rodrigo Eidy Uemura, Litro de Luz’s president sheds some light for budding ecopreneurs on the key lessons that have illuminated Litro de Luz’s systems change pathway through sustainable and impactful entrepreneurship in Brazil.

  1. “Simple design is our solution.”

In today’s world of tech marvels and sophisticated solutions, Litro de Luz shines a beacon on the power of simplicity. Eidy Uemura says, “We think that simple design is our solutions here. We can make more impact with them.” An eco-preneur should remember: not every solution has to be intricate. Sometimes, the most effective solutions are the simplest.

  1. Adapt to your environment – even if it’s a challenging one.

The geography of areas like the Amazon is challenging, yet this hasn’t deterred Litro de Luz. Eidy Uemura believes, “One of the biggest challenges that we have here is more than two million people that live without electricity. And one million is only in the Amazon region.” Their tenacity in overcoming these geographical obstacles exemplifies how adaptability can lead to incredible impact.

  1. Listen, learn, and be inspired by the communities you serve.

Deeply rooted in their mission is the essence of the community. Eidy Uemura argues, “Our inspiration, it’s always inside of the community. We get to know better each community, and we try to see their challenges and needs that they have.” As an eco-preneur, understanding and resonating with the very community you aim to serve can be your biggest strength.

  1. Collaboration is the bedrock of expansion and impact.

Partnerships have been pivotal for Litro de Luz. Eidy Uemura mentions several collaborations with international firms, stating, “We count with Salesforce, we count with the USAID, also with Audi Environmental Foundation from Germany.” An eco-preneur’s journey is not meant to be solitary. Collaboration can lead to multiplied impact and foster growth.

  1. Spread the good news, and let the world join your mission.

Eidy Uemura holds firm to the belief that good ideas are contagious. “Good ideas always deserve and it goes in an organic way goes for outside and reach more people more easily in some way,” he observes. As eco-preneurs, never underestimate the ripple effect your initiative can create.

In a world quick to denounce plastics, Litro de Luz shines as an emblem of innovation, proving that sometimes the solution lies within the problem.
