The search continues for influential figures putting the PET polymers industry on a regenerative path and bringing solutions together for the systemic issues surrounding plastic.

Building on the success of PET Heroes 2024, adaPETation®, has launched a third global search for the next group of people putting PET plastic on a regenerative path.
PET Heroes 2025 will identify and showcase the talented startups, students and life-mimicking organizations working to close the loop on plastic waste by providing them with regenerative insights, business training, communications support, networking opportunities and the chance to receive funding and visibility for their regenerative ideas.
adaPETation®, the first regenerative network within the plastic industry that seeks, promotes and powers the best solutions to the systemic issues surrounding plastics, was founded by Evertis & Selenis in 2022.
This year, the network will bring together a new team of partners and an expert panel of judges from the industry and beyond to choose a shortlist of 12 candidates to compete for the third version of the annual award.
The winner will receive non-dilutive funding and the opportunity to work with other members of the adaPETation® network to develop their prototype, business idea or regenerative venture in 2025.
Last year’s winner, Rodrigo Eidy Uemura received €10,000 of non-dilutive funding to assist with the work of the Litro de Luz in Brazil.
As well as the eventual winner, last year’s competition included a socially-conscious startup converting plastic waste into fuel used to o restore coral reefs in the gulf of Mexico, a talented Spanish designer empowering indigenous women around the world with designs on closing the loop on plastic waste, and a young design student that wants to use plastic bottles to save lives in Bangladesh.
Other finalists included an art gallery / design store, giving PET a beautiful second life in Bali, a social entrepreneur making public toilets from PET in India, eco-fashion designers from Portugal converting ocean waste into designer shoes and a plastic-offsetting first from Thailand.
